TEHRAN -- Iran is ready to put its experiences in the fields of agricultural research, livestock breeding, fisheries and irrigation under pressure to Zimbabwe, said Agricultural Jihad Minister Mahmoud Hojjati here on Wednesday.

Hojjati told Zimbabwean Minister of Land and Agriculture Joyce Mujuru that there are 120 million heads of livestock and nearly one billion poultry in Iran, which are protected against diseases by 1.5 billion doses of animal vaccines and serums produced in the country annually.

Nearly 500,000 hectares of farmlands in Iran are watered through irrigation under pressure system, said the minister.

Hojjati said exchange of expert delegations and identification of each other's needs can help Iran and Zimbabwe upgrade mutual ties.

Mujuru for his part called on Iran to provide Zimbabwe with its expertise on agricultural research, education and production of animal vaccines.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean minister during an inspection tour of Tabriz Tractor Manufacturing Company urged Iran to commission a tractors assembly line in his country.

He said his country is in need of variety of tractors, especially heavy duty tractors with 110 and 75 steam horse power.

He added that his country has ten million hectares of farmlands and plans to use those lands properly in the next ten years.

He said that his country is willing to provide tractors for Angola, Congo and Mozambique.

Managing director of tabriz tractor manufacturing company Mohsen Khadem Arab-Baghi said his company is ready to provide Zimbabwe with its required tractors and set up tractor assembly line there.

Last year, $12 million worth of tractors and different kinds of spare parts were exported by the factory, IRNA reported.

The company is to produce 15,000 tractors this year.
